NHL Playoffs: Golden Knights beat Oilers; Hurricanes defeat Devils in Game 1

* The Vegas Golden Knights beat the Edmonton Oilers 6-4. Ivan Barbashev and Chandler Stephenson scored two goals early in the third period to take a 5-3 lead, despite Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl scoring four goals. He now has 11 goals in the playoffs (in seven games) which leads the NHL. Barbashev later scored another goal for Vegas, in addition to forward Mark Stone; and Jack Eichel added an assist

The Golden Knights hold a 1-0 series lead; The Golden Knights and Oilers will face off in Game 2 on Saturday, May 6th at 7pm in Las Vegas.

* The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the NJ Devils in Game 1 of the second round on Wednesday with a score of 5-1. The Hurricanes scored with goals from Brett Pesce and Seth Jarvis, allowing Carolina to take the lead early against New Jersey to kick off the best-of-seven series. Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Brady Skeji and Jesper Fast also scored for the Hurricanes.

Game 2 between the Devils and Hurricanes will take place Friday, May 5th at 8pm in Raleigh.
